It's tricky to decide if it's worth it or not, but swapping the subframe can be done, without a lift even. You don' need to remove the diff, only drop it low, and have a helper wrestle the frame out over the top. I've done this myself, but I'm not sure i would recommend it unless you have endless patience.

Is this so as I have had a look at mine and the metal is a little thin in places and could do with a replacement piece really on top.
