Many Subaru owners have switched over to using the OEM Mazda Oil Filter. The part number is n3r1-14-302. It's made by Tokyo Roki as well, and is easily available here in the States.

The blue filters Subaru uses here in the states aren't as good of quality as the original black Tokyo Roki filters. The extra oil capacity and filtration also helps a lot.
